    ABOUT THE AWARD

The Aspen Ideas Festival is the nation's premier, public gathering place for global leaders to discuss the social, political, and economic issues that shape our lives and challenge our times.

Through the Booz Allen Aspen Ideas Award, we identify the best ideas from the Ideas Festival to provide them with the resources and exposure to bring those ideas to life. The Award, developed by the Aspen Institute and Booz Allen Hamilton, encourages innovative projects with the potential for achieving lasting impacts on their communities.

In 2015, the Award (then named the Aspen Ideas Award) connected thousands of social entrepreneurs and community leaders from 108 countries resulting in 15 game-changing projects that are now saving and improving lives around the world. Take a look at these inspiring projects on our 2015 Winners’ page.

    WHAT’S NEW THIS YEAR

Inspired by an anonymous $60,000 donation during the 2015 Award, we are adding two new features this year: expertise matching and crowdfunding.

    • Expertise matching:  Upon request, people who submit an idea to the Festival will have the opportunity to highlight specific areas where additional expertise would make a tangible difference in the project’s success. Through the platform, subject-matter experts can volunteer to be mentors to help fill the gap in expertise. Mentoring runs through August 31. Click here to find out more.
    • Crowdfunding: The top ideas submitted to the Booz Allen Aspen Ideas Award will be invited to participate in a crowdfunding campaign on this site through our partner Generosity by Indiegogo from June 24 to August 31. All donations raised through this site will go directly to the selected idea owner to further develop their project. Click here to find out more.
